Often a considerable oil leak is found at the transmission output shaft (Maxwell called it the “Drive Sleeve”). The shaft is hollow, with a split at the u-joint yoke area. This high temperature silicone plug is installed after the u-joint yoke locking plug (the tapered threaded plug, Maxwell part #459B “Drive Sleeve Plug”) is removed. This silicone plug stops oil from leaking out past the u-joint yoke area.
