The Splitdorf Model H magneto used on the 2-cylinder Maxwells contains many pot metal components. As you probably well know, 100+ year old pot metal can be quite brittle and break if you so much look at it the wrong way. I have developed this kit as an attempt to help you keep your Maxwell on the road with the original Splitdorf Model H magneto, without having to worry about brittle pot metal breaking and leaving you stranded on the side of the road.

BASE

The base is CNC machined from aluminum, and includes the engraved SPLITDORF name, close to original style.

FRONT/REAR COVER PLATE

The front and rear cover plates are cast in gray iron and machined to match dimensions and features as closely as possible to my original components.

BREAKER BOX (POINTS HOUSING)

The points housing (breaker box as Splitdorf called it) is cast from C875 silicon bronze. I have machined all needed features in it for you to transfer your original points assemblies and insulators into. Note there were two styles of points housings used by Splitdorf throughout the years. This is the full depth style that uses a short, stamped brass cover.

MISCELLANEOUS

A new set of sealed armature shaft bearings is included along with bearing adapters to mount the bearings to the armature shaft. Also included is a set of laminated shims which allow you to set neutral endplay of the armature shaft bearings. Complete instructions are included.
